In construction today, MPX Pecém II
thermoelectric power plant is located in the municipality of Gonçalo do Amarante (CE). Just like
Energia Pecém, MPX Pecém II is a
plant fueled by the pulverized coal that comes from
MPX own mines in Colombia, via Pecém Port. It is estimated that, together, these two plants will increase power production in Ceará by 90%.
MPX Pecém II, a wholly owned MPX venture, will have capacity to produce up to
360 MW. By trading 276 average MW at the new energy auction A-5 held in September 2008, MPX Pecém II has assured approximately R$ 221.9 million (base: March/2009) fixed earnings indexed by the IPCA, for 15 years, as of 2013.
With its
Installation License already issued by
State of Ceará Superintendency of the Environment (Semace) all plant key pieces of equipment have been ensured and start-up is scheduled for 2012.
Aiming at local labor development for the Itaqui, Pecém and Parnaíba power plants, in association with well known teaching institutions MPX has already qualified 1, 200 people in the states where the company is doing business.
In June, 2011 MPX Pecém II started to offer qualification courses in the areas of Civil Construction, Industrial Mechanics and Industrial Welding to
groups of 100 students.
Follow-up the progress of the works at MPX Pecém II
