31/01/2012 - Aneel approves changes in the implementation schedule for Itaqui thermo power plant
The National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) approved the alteration of the Implementation Schedule for the Itaqui Thermo Power Plant, as well as the start date provided by the Energy Power Purchase Agreement in the Regulated Market (CCEAR).

In a public meeting of the Executive Board held on January 31, 2012, Aneel approved a postponement of up to 90 days of the start of the plant’s operation (360 MW). The date from which this period is measured is January 1, 2012.

Itaqui has an installed capacity of 360 MW, is located in the state of Maranhão, northeastern Brazil. The plant sold 315 average MW in the A-5 auction held in October 2007, thus ensuring fixed revenues for a 15-year period, starting in 2012, of R$ 287.2 million (as of December 2011), which will be adjusted in accordance with the IPCA inflation index (Amplified Consumer Prices Index – IBGE).
